The council supports the independent Islington Hate Crime Forum. We are committed to working with community organisations and individual members of our community through the forum, to:
reduce the risk of becoming the victim of hate crime in Islington
improve the identification and reporting of hate crimes
support victims and those who fear being victims of hate crime
challenge the police to ensure quality investigations are carried out and improve the outcomes for victims who report a hate crime
You may be interested in joining if:
Your organisation supports people from a particular faith, ethnic group or area of the world
Your organisation supports people who have a disability
Your organisation supports people from the LGBT+ community
You, yourself, represent any of the groups above
Or you simply have an interest and passion for tackling hate crime
Here are some more details about the meetings:
Four meetings a year, held online
Chaired by Colin Adams MBE
Representatives from Islington Council and Metropolitan Police
We review hate crime data to look at key trends and locations of concern
We monitor hate crime projects we’re delivering and think of new ways we can work together to tackle hate crime
The Forum is an opportunity for communities to have a say in how the local authority and police are tackling hate crime
The Forum is open to community organisations, voluntary groups and individuals with a vested interest in tackling hate crime.
